Farley Funeral Homes and Crematory - Venice
Gary John Myers
September 30th, 1951 - November 3rd, 2023
Dr. Gary John Myers was called home by Our Lord on November 3, 2023. Beloved husband of Kathleen (Kat), his comfort dog Maggie Mae, brother of Lisa Myers of Akron, Ohio, and George Myers of Virginia. Gary graduated from Florida State University with a master’s in marine biology and proceeded to earn his Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Florida. For 38 years, Gary practiced Veterinary medicine at his clinic All Creatures Veterinary Hospital in Port Charlotte, Florida. Gary assisted in the first dolphin rescue for Mote Marine Laboratory and was an honorary member of the American Veterinary Medical Association. An avid hockey fan, Gary played in several ice hockey leagues and was an official scorekeeper for the Florida Everblades for years. Gary shared his passion for the outdoors with his wife visiting and hiking the National Parks throughout the United States and Canada, including hiking two 14ers in the Rocky Mountains. Locally, Gary thoroughly embraced their beach life with boating, fishing, kayaking, biking, and gardening. Gary will be sadly missed by the countless friends he considered family, and the innumerable lives he touched and enriched throughout the years. Donations to the American Cancer Society or the Animal Welfare League of Charlotte County Florida would be greatly appreciated. A private celebration of life to be held at a future date.
