Farley Funeral Homes and Crematory - Venice
Nancy Kathryn Severson
April 1st, 1933 - January 5th, 2024
Nancy Kathryn Severson, 90, passed away peacefully, in her home, on January 5. Nancy (or “Nan” to many of us) was born Nancy Kathryn Skinner in Tampa, Florida on April 1, 1933, and grew up in nearby ZephyrHills. She graduated with honors from Duke University, with a major in botany. To most people who knew her she was an exemplar of charm, intelligence, taste, and fine southern manners. In other words, she was a lady who will be greatly missed by those who loved her. Nan created a beautiful home, filled with art and antiques, and she always entertained with style; laying out her lovely china and silver, even for the grandkids. She was active in her community, supporting the arts, the local animal shelter, her alma mater, and other organizations. She loved flowers, so was thrilled to display her husband, Jack’s, prized orchid collection in their home in Venice. Nancy was predeceased by her husband, Dr. Jack M. Severson, with whom she traveled the world. She was also predeceased by her dear sister, Marilyn Newell, of Lake Wales. She is survived by her stepdaughter, Sheron Severson Elliott, and her two stepgranddaughters, Mary Burch and Elizabeth Zook, all of Greensboro, North Carolina.
