Farley Funeral Homes and Crematory - Venice
Carolyn Lois Meadowcroft
February 26th, 1942 - May 6th, 2024
Carolyn Lois Meadowcroft our beloved wife and mother went to our Lord Jesus Christ on May 6th. at 7:44 PM. Carolyn was married to her husband Charles D Meadowcroft for 58 years. They have resided in Sarasota, FL since 2000. They previously lived in Bradenton, FL from 1984. Carolyn was born in Baltimore, Maryland on February 26, 1942. She was the only child of her devoted parents, Irene and Theodore Gietka whom she loved dearly. She graduated from the University of Maryland with a Degree in Business Administration. She worked as an Admitting Supervisor at Greater Baltimore Medical Center before moving with her husband to Minneapolis, MN where she worked part time as an Admitting Supervisor while raising her first son, Darby Joseph. She had her youngest son, Charles Alexander, before the family moved to Indiana, PA where Carolyn and her husband started a family business supplying the construction industry with their product while at the same time being a devoted full- time Mom. Carolyn was also an elite athlete, winning many racing championships in her division including the Walt Disney Marathon and the Half Marathon and several Gasparilla 15K’s. She also set a record for her age division in the 15K Gate River Nationals in Jacksonville, FL which has stood for many years. Carolyn also came in second in the 15K National Championship for her age division in Chicago, IL. Carolyn also held a special place in her heart for her dogs. From Tiny, TJ, Teddy, Larry, Patrick, Matthew Patrick, and Matthew Patrick Jr., she loved them all with her whole heart. They all slept by her side. They went almost everywhere with us. Her love for them was divine. Her love was transferred to me having a deep love for them also. Her devotion and love for her sons and husband and her faith has always come first. She is a cradle Catholic and has through her life practiced her faith always through the way she lived and at the very moment she entered eternity. Carolyn’s life was the catalyst for her husband and sons becoming a Catholic. She even went through RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) with her husband. Two of her cherished moments were attending Masses held by Pope John Paul II for the Spanish Martyrs and Christmas Eve with her sons and daughter-in-law, Shary, in Rome, Italy. Her devotion to Christ and love of Mary were always apparent in the way she lived her life. Carolyn is survived by her husband, Charles; sons Darby Joseph and Charles Alexander; and her loving pet, Matthew Patrick, Jr. Services will be private.
