Louise Owen Motley, 97, of Lynchburg, Virginia passed away on November 11, 2022. She was the widow of Vernon L. Motley. She was the daughter of the late Howard F. Owen and Agnes F. Owen of Danville, Virginia. She was predeceased by two sisters, Adell O. Carter and Minnie O. Gammon; four brothers, Richard H. Owen, Archie G. Owen, Raymond Owen and Billy J. Owen. She was also predeceased by a niece, Charlotte Gammon Hazelwood. Mrs. Motley is survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews including Danny Gammon, who was her caregiver for many years. Mrs. Motley was dedicated to helping and visiting with the aged and helping those in need. She enjoyed all her many close friends and particularly enjoyed sharing lunch with them and playing cards. She was a former member of Fort Hill Woman’s Club, was one of the first members of the Widow-to-Widow club sponsored by Diuguid Funeral Home and was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church since 1960, where she and her husband, Vernon, made and delivered taped sermons to those that could not attend worship service. The family wishes to express their thanks to the wonderful and caring staff at Liberty Ridge and Runk & Pratt-Pearls of Life Memory Care. The family wishes to thank Mrs. Motley’s supportive friends of many years. Louise appreciated your love, kindness, and support throughout the years. The service will be in the Chapel at Fort Hill Memorial Park Mausoleum at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, November 15, 2022, by Rev. Shawn Hyska. Mrs. Motley will be entombed alongside her husband in the mausoleum at Fort Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to any of the following organizations or charities: Westminster Presbyterian Church, 1022 Floyd St., Lynchburg, VA 24501, The National D-Day Memorial, P.O. Box 77, Bedford, VA 24523, The Salvation Army, P.O. Box 2314, Lynchburg, VA 24504 Lynchburg Daily Bread, 717 Clay Street, Lynchburg, VA 24504 or a charity of your choice.
