David Lee Anderson
December 9th, 1945 - June 22nd, 2023
David “Dave” Lee Anderson, age 77 of Lynchburg, Virginia peacefully passed away on June 22, 2023 at Lynchburg General Hospital. He was born on December 9, 1945, to the late Harold B. Anderson and Flora (Johnson) Anderson. Dave was a 1964 graduate of Brookville High School. He served in the National Guard for six years and had a forty-five-year career in the communications technology field. In 1965, Dave started as a lineman at C&P Telephone Company and finished his thirty-year career as a Central Office Technician in 1995. After his retirement, he continued his career with various other communications companies. Dave was an avid UVA basketball and football fan. He enjoyed bowling, golf, reading, good movies, the outdoors, family time and an occasional mechanical bull ride. Dave was a dedicated family man and loved four-wheeling and being in nature with his family. He is survived by: his wife of 58 years, Joan (Evans) Anderson. His children: daughter, Dawn (Anderson) Gardner and husband Mike of Manassas, Virginia; son David Mark Anderson and wife Kristin of Oakland, Michigan; son Todd Anderson and wife Cathy of Forest, Virginia; son, Randy Johnson of Madison Heights, Virginia. His grandchildren: Erin Coleman, Rachel Dugger, Melaina Gardner, Nolan Anderson, Josh Anderson, Lauren Anderson, Madison Anderson and Hailey Anderson. His great grand-children: Gabe, Micah, Noah, Tripp, Cassidy, Cory and Miko. Dave is also survived by his siblings: brother, Jerry Anderson and wife Fran of Tarpan Springs, Florida; Sue (Anderson) White and husband Rennie of Lynchburg; Laura Campbell and husband Ken of Hurt, Virginia. A celebration of life will be held at the American Legion Post 16, 1301 Greenview Drive, Lynchburg, Virginia on July 8th 2PM-6PM. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the charity of your choice. Diuguid Waterlick Chapel, 343-237-2722, is serving the family.
