Carolyn Marjorie Godbolt Poole

Mrs. Carolyn Marjorie Godbolt Poole, age 86, of Columbia, S.C., born on January 13, 1932 in Wellborn, Florida, to the late Edna Odella Law Godbolt and the late Frank Clark Godbolt, passed away at her home on August 11, 2018 in Forest Acres. She attended Andrew Jackson High School in Wellborn and on June 5, 1949, Carolyn married Llewlyn “Hank” Poole. They were married for 69 years. Most of her married life Carolyn was a full time homemaker and mother until she and her husband purchased a convenience store where Carolyn worked as a cashier until retiring in 1993. She was preceded in death by her father, Clark; mother, Edna; stepfather, Daniel Keene, Sr.; and brother, Daniel Keen, Jr. Carolyn is survived by her husband, Hank of Columbia, SC; sons, Tommy L. Poole (Linda) of Chapin, SC, Michael T. Poole of Jenkinsville, SC, Daniel E. Poole (Charlene) and Jeffery A. Poole of Columbia, SC; brother, James Keene (Pattie) of Lakeland, FL; sister, Catherine G. Lueders of Jacksonville, FL; and grandchildren, Brenda Ann Poole of Chapin, SC, Taylor Marie Poole and Casey Daniel Poole of Columbia, SC; and a number of cousins, nieces, & nephews. Carolyn's hobbies were cooking, sewing, visiting family and studying her Bible. She was a long time member of North Trenholm Baptist Church. Carolyn's family extends a special "Thank You" for the professional & loving care provided by the staffs of Palmetto-Richland Hospital ER, the Neurological Unit, & both the In-patient, In-home Hospice, plus the NHC-Parklane Rehab, and Right at Home Care services. Friends and family can pay their respects at the visitation from 10:15 AM until 10:50 AM on Friday, August 17, 2018 at Thompson Funeral Home at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 845 Leesburg Road, Columbia, SC, 29209. A funeral service will follow at 11 AM in the chapel with Pastor David Knapp officiating. Carolyn will be laid to rest in Serenity Memorial Gardens.
