Cayce- A memorial service for Henry Guy Gantt, 60, will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at Thompson Funeral Home, 845 Leesburg Road. The interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family will then receive friends and loved ones at 101 Beaver Tail Circle in Cayce. A loving husband, father, brother, uncle and son, Guy passed away September 24, 2018. Guy was born in Columbia on January 27, 1958. He attended Columbia High School, where he excelled in academics and developed a life-long passion for baseball. After graduating high school in 1976, Guy attended Wofford College and then the University of South Carolina in Columbia, where he completed a Bachelor of Science degree. Following college graduation, Guy founded Pioneer Tree Service, a company that would prove to be highly successful. Through his company he was able to nurture and help others, always providing jobs and training to those who asked for help, and always providing a generous, loving hand to anyone in need. Guy was predeceased by his wife, the late Lindsay Corley Gantt, and is survived by his daughters, Chelsea Marie Gantt of West Columbia and Madison Nicole Gantt of Lexington. He was raised and loved dearly by his parents James “Jim” C. Gantt and the late Frances H. Gantt and his grandmother, the late Myrtle Adele Huckabee. He is also survived by his sister, Sharon Elaine Mallard, of Lexington, SC, James “Jason” C. Gantt II, of Johns Island, SC, and his nephews, Alexander Mallard of Lexington, SC and Holden and Oliver Gantt of Johns Island, SC. Guys also leaves behind other close friends and loved ones, including, Elaine Gillespie, David and Jamie Elks, Dooley and Janelle Womack, Steve Womack and Jeff Womack. A tree will be memorialized in Guy Gantt’s name at Riverbanks Zoo & Gardens. Donations can be made to The Riverbanks Zoo, 500 Wildlife Parkway, Columbia, SC 29210.
