Myrtle Beheler Lucas died at home peacefully surrounded by her family on Wednesday, June 3, 2020. Myrtle was born on April 7, 1921 in Blacksburg, SC to the late Pratt and Sam Beheler. Myrtle was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Harvey Lucas and her brothers; Floyd and Victor Beheler and by her sisters; Sarah Watson and Jeanette Spencer. Myrtle is survived by her sons; Harvey Lucas, Jr (Judy) and Bobby Lucas and her daughters; Deborah Morgan (Albert), Patrecia Baker (Mike) and Beth Tosto (Dallas). Also surviving are her Grandchildren; Harvey Lucas, III, Nicole Lucas, Ansley Lucas, Shannon Morgan-Baehr and Christopher Morgan and Great Grandchildren; Cassidy Hicks and Zoe Lucas along with her beloved dog, Lucy Lou. Myrtle graduated from State High School in 1939 and then received her Nursing degree from SC State Hospital School of Nursing in September 1942. She was a wonderful full-time Mom working as a private duty Registered Nurse at night so she could be home during the day with her children. She completed her nursing career at Richland Memorial Hospital. She was a good friend, a great mother and grandmother who made the best biscuits, fried chicken and butter beans in town. Friends and family were always welcome in our home and at her table. Myrtle was a longtime member of South Beltline Baptist Church. There will be a Graveside Service at 2:00 pm on Friday, June 5, 2020 at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 845 Leesburg Road, Columbia, SC. Thompson Funeral Home - West Columbia is assisting the family. Memorials may be made to the ASPCA or Local Humane Society.
