Charles Eugene Couch
May 11th, 1941 - August 6th, 2021
Charles Eugene Couch was born May 11, 1941 in Columbia, SC to Henry & Flossie Brazell Couch. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Gene graduated in 1960 from Dreher High School. He retired from SC Air National Guard, McEntire Air Base. He served in Spain during the 1960's Berlin Crisis & Desert Storm. After retiring from McEntire, he continued to work and retired from a position at the University of South Carolina. He was devoted to his Lord & Savior, Jesus Christ he was an active member & Deacon at Calvary Baptist Church. Gene was a humble loving soul who cherished his family, church & friends. Gene is survived by one daughter, Tammy Kassebaum (Kirk); grandchildren, Elizabeth Walker (James), Brian Davis, Thomas Kassebaum and Erin Kassebaum; great grandchildren, Katarina and Landon Walker; brothers, Jerry Couch and Henry Couch (Anita); one sister, Sandra Plate (Bob); along with numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Shirley, and his parents. The family will receive other family and friends on Friday, August 13, 2021 from 5:00-7:00pm at Thompson Funeral Home at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 845 Leesburg Rd. Columbia SC 29209. A celebration of his life will take place Saturday, August 14, 2021 at 10:00am at Thompson Funeral Home at Greenlawn Memorial Park. Burial, with military honors, will take place at Greenlawn Memorial Park immediately following the celebration.
