Susan Lee Haynes October 11, 1963 – August 19, 2022 Susan Lee Haynes, known to most as Suzie, passed away on Friday, August 19, 2022. Born in New Haven, CT, on October 11, 1963, she was the daughter of Donald Puchala and the late Jeanne Puchala. Suzie was a loving wife, daughter, sister, aunt, grandmother, niece, and friend. Suzie will be deeply missed by all that loved her bubbling personality. She had a wide circle of friends from her early years growing up in New Jersey, through her employment at the Richland County planning department, and the lifelong friendships forged with the Opening Break gang. If you were on Suzie’s calling list, you knew you were loved by her and had a friend for life. In addition to her family and friends, Suzie loved animals. Second only to family and friends were her beloved pets Buster Brown, Eli Manning, Bentley, and Chloe. Suzie embraced life to the fullest. She loved convertible sports cars, loved to cook, and travel, enjoyed concerts and cruises and spending time with her husband Donnie. No matter where they went or who they were with, they were sure to make new friends and fun was a guarantee. Suzie had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh. If giggling was an Olympic sport, Suzie would have earned several Gold Medals. Her zest for life and never ending laughter will be missed. Suzie is survived by her husband, Donnie Haynes; her father, Donald Puchala; step-son, Evan Haynes (Taylor); granddaughter, Mia Haynes; grandson, Brock Haynes; aunt, Susan Ferrone (Gene); uncle, Tom Puchala (late aunt Rosemarie); sister, Madeline Broderick (Chris); nephews, Max Ward and Alec Ward (Emily); sister, Elizabeth Katin (Steve); niece, Bella Jones; brother- in- law, Jimmy Haynes (Judy); sister-in- law, Pam Gross (Lee); and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. A Memorial Service in Suzie’s honor will be held at 3 PM, Friday, August 26, 2022, at Thompson Funeral Home on Leesburg Road. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. A gathering will be at The Picnic Shed located at 9830 Garners Ferry Road, Hopkins SC, 29061 following the service. Remember Me By Anthony Dowson Speak of me as you have always done.Remember the good times, laughter, and fun.Share the happy memories we’ve made.Do not let them wither or fade.I’ll be with you in the summer’s sunAnd when the winter’s chill has come.I’ll be the voice that whispers in the breeze.I’m peaceful now, put your mind at ease.I’ve rested my eyes and gone to sleep,But memories we’ve shared are yours to keep.Sometimes our final days may be a test,But remember me when I was at my best.Although things may not be the same,Don’t be afraid to use my name.Let your sorrow last for just a while.Comfort each other and try to smile.I’ve lived a life filled with joy and fun.Live on and remember I’m with you always.

Greenlawn Memorial Park

Greenlawn Memorial Park

Greenlawn Memorial Park is one of Columbia's most historic perpetual care cemeteries. This gorgeous setting combines serenity, natural beauty, and diligent care for generations of families. North Lake, located in the center of our park, offers a water feature and is the site of many local events, including an annual Easter sunrise service, a Greenlawn tradition for over 50 years. The park also has a veteran's section, private family estates, a columbarium with niches for cremated remains, and an incredible granite mausoleum....
