Mary Curry Faircloth
June 22nd, 1933 - November 28th, 2022
Mary Curry Faircloth, 89, of Columbia, South Carolina passed away on November 28, 2022. Mary was born and raised in Hazleton, Pennsylvania to parents John Curry and Grace Lucille Conahan Curry. She lost her mother at a very young age and was raised by her grandmother and two aunts— Margaret Fescina and Katherine Dougherty. Her uncle, William J. Curry, also had a steadying hand in her early life. After graduating high school a year early, Mary took classes to learn secretarial skills. With those skills, she set off to Washington, D.C. and worked one of her first jobs at the Pentagon. A year later, she took a job with the United States government in Germany. She married there and had the first three of her six children in Germany. After her return to the United States, three more children followed, and she began a 30 year career with the Veterans Administration in Columbia, S.C. She is survived by her six children: Robert C. Faircloth Jr. (Jodie) of Columbia, S.C., Madelynne Faircloth of Columbia, S.C., Patricia Gharagozlou (Mohsen) of Roswell, G.A., Barbara Faircloth of Lexington, S.C., William Faircloth (Alysia) of Lexington, S.C., and Caroline Sandel of Chapin, S.C. She is also survived by eight grandchildren. A private graveside service will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that you make a donation to the charity of your choice.

Greenlawn Memorial Park
Greenlawn Memorial Park is one of Columbia's most historic perpetual care cemeteries. This gorgeous setting combines serenity, natural beauty, and diligent care for generations of families. North Lake, located in the center of our park, offers a water feature and is the site of many local events, including an annual Easter sunrise service, a Greenlawn tradition for over 50 years. The park also has a veteran's section, private family estates, a columbarium with niches for cremated remains, and an incredible granite mausoleum....
