Betty Casselman Schwartz
January 9th, 1933 - July 30th, 2023
Betty Casselman Schwartz went home to be with her Lord and Savior on July 30, 2023. Born in Andrews, SC, she was the daughter of the late Ezra R. Casselman and Ida F. Casselman. Mrs. Schwartz was a retired Registered Nurse, retiring from Dorn VA Hospital after 24 years of service. She received her nurses training from the Baptist Hospital, College for Nurses, graduating in 1954. She was a long-time active member of Asbury Memorial United Methodist Church, Bauknight Sunday School Class, Circle 2 and Joy Club. She was a member of NARFE, and the Sunshine Sisters of McMillan Hidden Valley, Hendersonville, NC. Surviving are her loving husband of 69 years, Jacob B. “Jake” Schwartz Jr, son, Jacob B. “Jay” Schwartz III (Cathy), of Greenville, SC, grandchildren, Sally Ann Mertens (David), of Fletcher, NC, and Gregory Jacob “Greg” Schwartz (Chelsey), of Fletcher NC, great grandchildren, Abigail, Madilyn, Naomi, Gideon, and Ethan; sisters: Reba Dale Evans of Columbia, SC, Edna Jean Scott of Seminole, FL, Lois Hurst of Florence, SC, Agnes “Lucy” Sims of Lexington, SC. Brother: David Casselman (Marsha), of Camden SC, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by Brothers: Johnnie Mark, Beckman and Benjamin Casselman. Sisters: Eloise Spigner, Blanche Hinson, Carol Soucek, and Nell Derrick. A Service of Celebration will be held Saturday, August 5, 2023 at 11:00am, with visitation prior to the service from 10:00am to 10:45am, at Asbury Memorial United Methodist Church, 1005 Asbury Drive, Columbia, SC 29209. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Asbury Memorial United Methodist Church, 1005 Asbury Drive, Columbia, SC 29209, or a Charity of your choice.

Greenlawn Memorial Park is one of Columbia's most historic perpetual care cemeteries. This gorgeous setting combines serenity, natural beauty, and diligent care for generations of families. North Lake, located in the center of our park, offers a water feature and is the site of many local events, including an annual Easter sunrise service, a Greenlawn tradition for over 50 years. The park also has a veteran's section, private family estates, a columbarium with niches for cremated remains, and an incredible granite mausoleum....
