Bobby Vaught Hucks
June 9th, 1940 - May 22nd, 2024
Mr. Bobby Vaught Hucks, age 83, of Columbia, passed away on Wednesday, May 22, 2024 at his home. Bobby was born on June 9, 1940 in Aynor, SC. He was the third born son of Fladger Vaught Hucks and Maxine James Hucks. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by three brothers: Archie S. Hucks, Leon Earl Hucks and F. Levon Hucks. Bobby loved southern gospel music and sang the old songs on the local radio station in his youth. He enjoyed mountain vacations, hunting, fishing, boating, bowling, bee keeping, and spending time with his family and friends. His love of God, family, country, friends and helping others was a true testament of his faith. He was a faithful member of Mill Creek United Methodist Church for 52 years. Bobby is survived by his loving wife, Joan Leach Hucks; his son, Kenneth Hucks (Cynthia); his daughter, Karen Floyd (Scott); and 2 brothers: Glenn Hucks, Ronny Hucks (Linda); and six sisters: Nelda Stevens, Marilyn Glasgow, Rhonda Matthews, Pamela Hucks, Donna Rae Hucks, and Ginger Altman. A memorial service will be on his birthday, June 9, 2024 at 2:00 pm at Thompson Funeral Home, Leesburg Road, Columbia, SC 29209. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Mill Creek United Methodist Church, 1041 Old Garners Ferry Rd, Columbia, SC 29209 or Oliver Gospel Mission, PO Box 7697, Columbia, SC 29202.
