Lexington—John Garlan Lewis, 69, of Lexington, husband of Margaret Douglas Lewis, passed away Saturday, March 17, 2018. He was born on November 1, 1948 in Savannah, Georgia, to the late Jack and Ovalene Grant Lewis. He retired from Hercules Savannah Plant in 2007 after 35 years of service. John Garlan was a veteran of the US Marines Corp having served during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Sandlapper Pigeon Club. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington is assisting the family.

Greenlawn Memorial Park is one of Columbia's most historic perpetual care cemeteries. This gorgeous setting combines serenity, natural beauty, and diligent care for generations of families. North Lake, located in the center of our park, offers a water feature and is the site of many local events, including an annual Easter sunrise service, a Greenlawn tradition for over 50 years. The park also has a veteran's section, private family estates, a columbarium with niches for cremated remains, and an incredible granite mausoleum....
