Funeral services for Janie Lee Dye Caughman, 94, of Lexington, will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, January 14, 2018 at St. David Lutheran Church with interment in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the Commons Area of the church. Memorials may be made to St. David Lutheran Church, 132 St. David Church Road, West Columbia, SC, 29170, or to Lexington Extended Care, 815 Old Cherokee Road, Lexington, SC 29072. Mrs. Caughman, widow of W. Elford Caughman, was born June 12, 1923 in West Columbia, SC, and passed away on Friday, January 12, 2018. She was a daughter of the late Beulah H. Dye and James I. Dye. Mrs. Caughman was a graduate of Brookland-Cayce High School and Draughon's Business College. She was a member of St. David Lutheran Church, the Women of the ELCA, the Zela Boozer Sunday School Class, and former Sunday School teacher and Youth Advisor. She was also a former member of the Lexington Literary Club. In addition to being a devoted wife and mother, Mrs. Caughman was known throughout the Lexington area for her delicious homemade cakes and cookies, which she lovingly baked for family and friends for many years. Mrs. Caughman is survived by her daughters, Nancy Wallace (Gerald) and Kathy Bleakley, both of Lexington; four grandchildren, Brett Wallace (Janet), Blake Bleakley (Pam), Lauren Brown (Andy), and Wesley Bleakley (Jessica); and eight grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her sister, Betty D. Caughman; granddaughter, Kerri Wallace; great-granddaughter, Clara Wallace; and son-in-law, Fraser Bleakley. The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks for the exceptional nursing care and concern shown to Mrs. Caughman by the staff at Lexington Extended Care and Tri-County Hospice.
