Marion J. Kuykendall - Cayce - A Homecoming service for Mrs. Marion J. Kuykendall, 76, of Cayce, will be celebrated at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at Cayce First Baptist Church, 600 Holland Avenue, Cayce, SC 29033. Dr. Pete Cassidy will officiate. Interment will follow the service in Southland Memorial Gardens in West Columbia. The family will greet friends from 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM, Wednesday, December 27, 2017 prior to the service at the church in the sanctuary. Mrs. Kuykendall passed away Saturday, December 23, 2017. Born in Washington, DC, she was a daughter of the late William Johnson and Gaynell Lyles Johnson. Marion was known for her gregarious personality, and enjoyed dancing, especially square dancing. She had retired from the Richland County Sheriff's Department after 23 years of service. Her former employer, Sheriff Leon Lott, remembers her as a "spitfire", who enjoyed playing pranks. Marion is survived by her loving husband of 52 ½ years, Joseph R. Kuykendall; son, Monte Kuykendall; sister, Carol Beasley. In addition to her parents, Marion was predeceased by her brother, Wesley Hollifield. Thompson Funeral Home of West Columbia is assisting the family.
