Betty "BJ" Joyce Jenkins
July 24th, 1938 - June 25th, 2015
A memorial service for Betty "BJ" Joyce Jenkins, 76 of Swansea will be held 4:00 p.m. Monday, June 29, 2015 at the Chapel of Redemption, 5181 Platt Springs Road, Lexington with visitation one hour prior to service. Pastor David Phillips will officiate. Burial will be held at a later date. Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington is assisting the family. Mrs. Jenkins passed away on Thursday, June 25, 2015. Born in Darlington, she was a daughter of the late Elbert Emmet and Geneva Stratton Elmore. She was a longtime member of Chapel of Redemption where she led the Golden Agers program. She was a volunteer at Lexington Interfaith Community Services (LICs). Mrs. Jenkins was a former member of the Eastern Star. She was a loving mother, grandmother and a friend to all. Mrs. Jenkins enjoyed thrift store shopping, doing puzzles, quilting and traveling. Surviving are two daughters, Linda Blanton (Euel) and Tonya Reed (Marc Jackson); grandchildren, M. Jason Hentz (Carri), Brandy L. Babberl (Kirk); great grandchildren, M. Garrett Hentz, George "Lee" Heaton, Haley R. Hentz and Ivy Davis; great great grandchildren, Carly Hentz and Waylon Legrand. In addition to her parents and late husbands, Buddy Reed and Bob Jenkins she was preceded in death by a sister, Grace Truett.
