Harold Louis Martinez of Littleton, Co was born on July 29th 1929 in Alamosa, Co. to Tony and Genevieve (Mansanares) Martinez and passed away September 14th, 2012 in Denver, Co. Harold and his family moved from Alamosa to Denver in 1941 where he attended Manual Training High School, graduating on June 30th, 1947. After graduation, Harold entered the United States Navy, serving from October 20th 1947 to January 31st, 1951. While in the service, Harold was a top athlete, competitive in both boxing and wrestling. After serving his country in the Korean War, Harold was discharged from service due to injury sustained to his right arm and moved on to the pursuit of a degree in science, attending both the University of Denver and the University of Colorado. For the majority of his professional life, Harold worked as an engineer for Martin Marietta but he also worked as a salesman and even owned and operated his own bar and bowling alley in Kimball, Nebraska. After his retirement from Martin Marietta, Harold worked for the City of Littleton, driving an Omnibus for senior citizens. He transported them to and from their appointments and assisted them in any way he could. All of his life, Harold could be described as a loving and devoted family man. Nothing brought him more enjoyment than taking his family up to the mountains for a fishing trip, playing a round of golf with one of his brothers, or gathering everyone together for a game of dice or cards. He was an avid member of his church for many years, starting as an alter boy in Alamosa to becoming a member of the Knights of Columbus Council and Assembly where he achieved the rank of Grand Knight. As Harold has now moved on to the Kingdom of heaven, he has been separated from many loved ones but has reunited with many as well. He is proceeded in death by his brothers Art, Don, Chuck, and Paul, his sister Jane, his parents, and his darling granddaughter Madison. He is survived by his wife Carolyn, daughters Dana, Kim and Toni, his granddaughters Hannah and Autumn, and his siblings Dick, Tom and Mary Geneva. He will loved and missed and will always live on in the hearts of his family and as a bright and shining star in the heavens. A rosary will be held at 6:30pm on September 20th, 2012 at St. Mary’s of Littleton, 6853 S. Prince St. Littleton, Co. The viewing will be held from 10:00am until 10:30am September 21st, 2012 with funeral services immediately following at St. Francis Cabrini Parish, 6673 W. Chatfield Ave. Littleton, Co. Graveside services will be conducted at Fort Logan National Cemetery on September 24th, 2012 at 2:15pm. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made in Harold’s name to the charity of your choice.
