Thomas Martinez
May 30th, 1931 - April 13th, 2011
Thomas L. Martinez, 79, was born in Trinidad, Colorado to Pantaleon and Ambrosia Martinez. He is survived by his wife Shirley, daughter Judy Sanchez (Mark) Golden, CO: Debra Duran (Arthur) Littleton, CO; Lori Ramos (Jimmy) Highlands Ranch, CO; Lisa Herrera (Abel) Cañon City, CO; Thomas Martinez Jr. (Chuck) Wheat Ridge, CO; Joel Martinez Denver, CO. Ten grandchildren Amanda Bushing (Derrick) Littleton, CO; Jason Martinez (Kendra) Aurora, CO; Lindsey Sandoval Denver, CO; Danielle Sanchez Golden, CO; Aaron Duran Littleton, CO; Adrian Herrera Denver, CO; Anthony Herrera (Callie) Denver, CO; Andria Herrera Hays (Lucas) Yuma, AZ; Aliyah Herrera Cañon City, CO; Alexia Herrera Cañon City, CO; and eight great-grandchildren: Gabriel, Lylah, Olivia, Gage, Nathan, Aiden, Thomas and Jett. Thomas entered into active duty and served proudly, in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1953. Thereafter, while back at home in Colorado, he met and married Shirley three months after being discharged on September 26, 1953. The two settled in Denver Colorado where he was employed by the city and county of Denver up to his retirement. Thomas will always be remembered by his family as a kindhearted Father, Grandfather and Great-Grandfather. His whole life revolved solely around his wife, children and great-grandchildren. Thomas is survived by one sister, Lucille, whom he loved dearly and is his last remaining sibling. Thomas’ favorite activities included but were not limited to anything sports related, ranging from golf to football. He had many friends as well, but his best friend was always his wife, Shirley. All of his extra time was shared with his family whom he was always there for and cared for above all other things. He was consistently there for anyone who was in need and affected all whose lives he touched. Thomas was a greatly religious man with undeniably strong values and prayed every night before he went to bed. His giving spirit was only surpassed by the strength of his word, which he always made sure to keep. He Will be deeply missed by all who have ever had the honor of being a part of his life. His last day was spent with his closest of family members who stood strong to support him and he passed on while grasping on to his wife’s hand. Passing this way seems only proper, given the true love that Tom and Shirley shared together. Thomas will be greatly missed and will remain forever strong in the hearts and souls of his family. He played a huge part in shaping and guidance of the people that his family members are today. We would all like to thank Thomas for giving us direction, morals, values and all of the other wonderful qualities that it takes to be a good human being. We want you to know that you will be deeply missed. We love you and hope to someday be reunited with you once again. God bless your soul Dad/Grandpa and may you rest in peace as you go with our Gracious Heavenly Father. Posted by All Veterans Funeral & Cremation.
