A memorial service for Stephen Howard Ray, 46, of Elgin, will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 4, 2014 at Thompson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home. Mr. Ray died Monday, September 29, 2014. Born in Columbia, SC, he was the son of Theodore Howard Ray and Florence Wiggins Purgason. He was the service manager for several dealerships in the Columbia area. He attended The Kingdom Hall's in West Columbia and Elgin. Surviving are his wife, Adena Rhea Ray; three sons, Eric, Bret, and Noah Ray; two step-children, Dylan and Veda Lightfoot; one sister, Sonia Neal (John); granddaughter, Jayden Ray; grandson, Nathan Ray; several brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws, nieces and nephews

Greenlawn Memorial Park is one of Columbia's most historic perpetual care cemeteries. This gorgeous setting combines serenity, natural beauty, and diligent care for generations of families. North Lake, located in the center of our park, offers a water feature and is the site of many local events, including an annual Easter sunrise service, a Greenlawn tradition for over 50 years. The park also has a veteran's section, private family estates, a columbarium with niches for cremated remains, and an incredible granite mausoleum....
