West Columbia - "Lord, grant that I might not so much seek to be loved as to love." Jonathan, beloved son of Robert Duncan Taylor and Evelyn Hydrick Taylor passed from this life to his heavenly home on Monday, September 1, 2014. He was a graduate of Brookland -Cayce High School, class of 1997, where he served as Drum Major of the Bearcat Marching Band and the University of South Carolina with a B.S., Masters and Ed. S. Degrees. He was presently serving in his tenth year as a Guidance Counselor at Brookland-Cayce High School. Jonathan is survived by his parents, twin brother Toby and sister Tracy of Columbia, sister, Robin and nephews Benjamin and Daniel Johnson of Rock Hill, SC. He is also survived by his paternal grandfather Jack Taylor of Mississauga, Ont., Canada. He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. AP Hydrick, Mrs. Jack Taylor and brother-in-law Joel Johnson. Jonathan's passions were baseball caps, all kinds of music, community theatre and his dog, Mollie. He sang and danced his way through more than thirty plays in Columbia and Lexington; his role of a life-time being the Scarecrow in "The Wizard of Oz". Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 3, 2014 and a Celebration of Life Service at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 4, 2014 at Thompson Funeral Home in West Columbia, SC. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pets Inc., PO Box 6394, West Columbia, SC 29171.

Greenlawn Memorial Park is one of Columbia's most historic perpetual care cemeteries. This gorgeous setting combines serenity, natural beauty, and diligent care for generations of families. North Lake, located in the center of our park, offers a water feature and is the site of many local events, including an annual Easter sunrise service, a Greenlawn tradition for over 50 years. The park also has a veteran's section, private family estates, a columbarium with niches for cremated remains, and an incredible granite mausoleum....
