Beloved father John P. Mayer of Littleton passed away on Tuesday, February 16 at Aurora Care Center. He was 88. John was born to Emile R. and Marguerite “Peg” Mayer on April 19, 1921 in Denver. He married Ellen “Bunny” Horner of Tacoma, Washington in 1946. His beloved wife and parents preceded him in death. John lived in Brighton, Colorado for most of his childhood and working adult life. Once retired, he moved to the Littleton area. He was a lifelong employee of his great-grandfather Max Kuner’s company, Kuner Empson Co. of Brighton. He was a devoted fan of the Denver Broncos, the University of Colorado and several other Colorado sports teams; as well as being an avid dog lover. He was devoted to his children and grandchildren. John is survived by his adoring daughters Peggy Grant of Littleton, Mary Dyer and her husband Chris Dyer of East Falmouth, Mass. and Melissa Haskins of Littleton; by his loving sons Eric, Jeff and his wife Colleen, and Karl, all of Littleton; and by his nine grandchildren (Koren, Nathan, Max, Chelsea, Alanna, Joel, Kristin, Maggie and Halle) and three great-grandchildren, Roarke and Marcus Castleman and Indie Morgan. Catholic Mass will be said on Thursday, February 25 at 10:30 AM at Saint Frances Cabrini Catholic Church, Chatfield and Pierce, in Littleton. The family requests that memorials be sent c/o Catholic Charities.
