Theresa Joanne Smith

Dr. Theresa Joanne Smith Theresa was the third child born to Norma Alberta Smith and Felix Adolph Smith. She was born August 22, 1959. She was raised and educated in Flushing New York. Theresa attended P.S 154 elementary school and Hillcrest High School in Queens New York. Theresa Smith was a Licensed Practical Nurse. She graduated in 1977 and later attended Queens College where she obtained her B.A degree. Theresa obtained her Masters degree from Texas Woman's University. She was motivated to complete a Doctorate Degree in Philosophy from Texas Women's University. Dr. Theresa Smith was employed by South Carolina university as a full-time Associate professor and research leader in nutrition and cancer research. She was well respected and a proud mentor to many of her colleagues. Dr. T. Smith throughout the years she was steadfast, loyal, dependable,trustworthy, and compassionate about her work. She administrated and wrote many grants. South Carolina University called Theresa's pharmacy laboratory "the tea grant". Dr. Smith also called these grants the first of many projects she created on the behalf of the university. Dr. Theresa Smith untimely death was on July 26, 2014. She loved to travel and be with her family. Theresa was a loving family member,daughter,friend and professional woman. She proceeded her father in transition in loving memory, she leaves behind her mother, Norma Smith; 2 brothers, Russell (Martha) and Trevor; nephews, David-Akem and Russell Timothy Smith; Ginger her German Shepherd dog; friends and co-workers. The family of the late Dr. Theresa Smith extends thanks and deep appreciation for the many expressions of sympathy through cards, phone calls, flowers, and other acts of kindness shown in our time of bereavement.
