WEST COLUMBIA—Funeral services for John L. Kennerly, Jr., 74, of West Columbia, will be held at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, February 23, 2014 at Thompson Funeral Home of West Columbia, 200 State Street, West Columbia, SC 29169. Reverend Johnny Slice will officiate. Burial will follow in Southland Memorial Gardens. The family will greets friend from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Saturday, February 22, 2014 at Thompson Funeral Home, 200 State Street, West Columbia, SC 29169. Mr. Kennerly, beloved husband of 53 years to Margaret Mitchum Kennerly, passed away on Thursday, February 20, 2014. Born in Columbia, he was a son of the late John Lever Kennerly and Mary Elizabeth Turner Kennerly. He was a lifelong area resident and attended Edmund First Baptist Church. Owner of Kennerly Mobile Home Park for many years and worked for Champion Road Machinery. He was a member of the Palmetto A's of South Carolina Car Club and the Dune Buggy Club. John loved going to auctions and racing at the Columbia Speedway. He loved to fish and was a great practical joker Surviving in addition to his loving wife, Margaret Kennerly of West Columbia; daughters, Angela Renee Kennerly and Lisa Johnette Jackson and her husband, Tony all of West Columbia; three grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren; sister, Peggy Jean McCord (Melvin) of Greensboro, NC.

Greenlawn Memorial Park is one of Columbia's most historic perpetual care cemeteries. This gorgeous setting combines serenity, natural beauty, and diligent care for generations of families.
