PARKLAND, FLORIDA-Graveside service for Anne D. Kendall, 73, of Parkland, Florida, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 14, 2014 at Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12-2 p.m. prior the service at Thompson Funeral Home at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 845 Leesburg Road, Columbia, SC 29209. Anne was the daughter of the late Commander Lawrence Kendall Droome and Ruby Lee Branscom and step-daughter of the late Ralph E. Mehlman. Anne passed away Sunday, February 9, 2014 after a brief illness at Coral Springs Medical Center in Coral Springs, Florida. Anne was a resident of Columbia, South Carolina until moving to South Florida in 1981. She was a graduate of Dreher High School and attended the University of South Carolina. Anne enjoyed her many travels around the world. She was a member of Shandon United Methodist Church, leader of Brownie Troop Number 187, as well as secretary and a charter member of the 2nd Regiment, South Carolina Line, Continental Establishment A Living History Re-Enactment Organization. Anne was also a member of The Daughters of The American Revolution. Mrs. Kendall is survived by her daughter, Sherrie B. Powers of Parkland, Florida; daughter of L. Paul Burk III; granddaughters, Whitney Lee Boul (Carl Boul) and Erica Anne Powers; great-grandchildren, Alexandria Michelle Boul and Christian Michael Boul; and her sister, Jane D. McCalla of Greenville, SC; nephew, Larry McCalla of Athen, GA. Mrs. Kendall was predeceased by her daughter, Ruthanne Burke. Memorial donations may be made to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA), 121 Humane Lane, Columbia, SC 29209 in loving memory of Mrs. Anne Kendall and her pet Lil Bit who passed away November 2013 after living and loving her for 14 years or to the American Cancer Society, 128 Stonemark Lane, Columbia, SC 29210.
