October 30th, 1933 - November 13th, 2013
West Columbia—Funeral services for Luther Vester Burr, 80, of West Columbia, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 16, 2013 at State Street Baptist Church. Reverend Dr. Tommy Pillow will be officiating. Burial will follow in Woodridge Memorial Park. The family will greet friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday, November 15, 2013 at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington. Mr. Burr, husband of Peggy Williams, passed away on Wednesday, November 13, 2013. Born in Chesterfield, SC, he was a son of the late Luther Burr and Viola White Burr. He was a member of State Street Baptist Church and an area resident for over 60 years. He graduated from high school in Hartsville, SC and received his Bachelor Degree in Engineering from USC. He owned and operated Burr Technical Services. He was a member of the Shriners and the Masons. Surviving is his son, Dr. Wayne M. Burr (Jamie) of Beaufort; step-son, C. Wayne Williams (Gwen) of Irmo; step-daughter, Melissa Williams of West Columbia; grandchildren, Michael, Nicholas, Elizabeth Ann, Garrett, Chase and Madison; great-grandchildren, Caroline, Brody and Jacob; sister, Bertha Watford of Laurinburg, NC. He is also survived by "Widget", his four-legged best friend. He was predeceased by two sons, Kevin Burr and Michael Burr, a sister, Irene Sansbury and brothers, Grady, Helton and Eugene. Memorials may be made to the SPCA, 121 Humane Lane, Columbia, SC 29209.
