Gary Allen Miller 4534 Del Verde Drive Colorado Springs, CO 80918 Gary was born on January 17, 1951, in Missoula, Montana to Carl and Marion Miller, who live now in Paris, Texas. Gary is survived not only by his parents, but by his son, Patrick Miller, his wife, Elizabeth Montague, her children, Juli Charter and husband RJ, Elise Willette and husband, Brian, and her son, Chuck Montague, and wife, Katie. Gary is also survived by ten grandchildren and one great granddaughter. In the Miller family, Gary is survived by four siblings, Carleen Stewart, her husband, Dwight, Parker Miller, and his wife, Elizabeth, Ron Miller, and his wife, Melanie, and Steve Miller, and his wife, Donna. Gary served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam and later in the Army National Guard of California. He was honorable discharged from the Army on the 23rd of May, 1981. During the Gulf War, he returned to active duty on the U.S.S. Nimitz as an airline mechanic and was honorably discharged from the U. S. Navy on the 7th of August, 1993. Aside from mechanics, Gary had a side business as a handyman. He was an excellent mechanic and all-around handyman and could often be found helping others by fixing their car, painting their house or laying tile. Gary could fix just about everything! He loved his Harley-Davidson almost as much as his service to our country. He rode his Harley in every Veteran’s Ride and for every charitable purpose he could find. His artistic flare and love for Harley-Davidson motorcycles gave him a hobby, and he was often immersed in building and selling clocks made with Harley-Davidson parts. Gary loved the wide open space, being outside and one with nature, especially camping! Gary had such a great outlook on life and brought humor to conversations; he delighted in making others laugh. If he knew you, he would still shake your hand and tell you, “Nice you got to see me again.” He had the strength of a gorilla and often grabbed someone sideways by the shoulders and lifted them off the ground, asking if they “needed a lift.” Gary was always joking and making light of any situation. Gary’s quirky sayings that made others laugh: Surf’s up, Happy Trails, Bo journo, Glad you got to see me again, Aso Deska, Bon Voyage, Copy that, Take two grenades and call me in the morning! He was an accomplished musician playing any and all types of music on guitar by ear. He began playing the guitar as a young man; he was a jazz enthusiast, recorded some of his own songs, played with several bands that recorded music, and played in many praise and worship church bands, most notably, his recent time with Pulpit Rock Church in Colorado Springs. A word from his loving parents: Gary leaves us with a lot of wonderful memories. He was a great blessing to us and we will surely miss his smile and happy ways. Gary was a fine godly man and one way he demonstrated it was by serving in the church with his music. We thank God for letting him be a special part of our lives…. Mom and Dad A Celebration of Life service for Gary will be held at Pulpit Rock Church, 301 Austin Bluffs Pkwy, Colorado Springs, CO, 80918 at 4:00 in the afternoon on April 8, 2017. He will be honored by the Patriot Riders of Colorado Springs and will be given a military salute following the church service. A pot-luck dinner at the church will follow the service. Please consider in lieu flowers, donating to Pulpit Rock Church in honor of Gary. His favorite charities and ones he gave to regularly were Springs Mission and Toys for Tots.
