Gladys Queen Stevenson
April 20th, 1924 - August 12th, 2013
COLUMBIA—Gladys Queen Stevenson, 89, of Columbia, beloved wife of the late Ray Stevenson, passed away on Monday, August 12, 2013 at home of natural causes. Born in Balsam County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Mary Bryson and Bass Queen. She had been an area resident since 1955 and a member of The Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses on Broad River Road. She was a house wife and a mother of five children. Mrs. Stevenson lived through the tough times of the "Depression" in the 1930's. Surviving are her daughters and sons-in-law, Joan S. Bilton (Jerry) of Columbia and Katherine S. Jeffers (Duane) of Elgin; sons and daughters-in-law, Robert L. Stevenson (Jeanie) of Columbia, Joe Ray Stevenson of Columbia and David L. Stevenson (Sandra) of Lexington; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Friday, August 16, 2013 from 1:30-3 p.m. prior to the service, at Thompson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel. Burial will follow in Celestial Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Jerry Bilton, Duane Jeffers, Jason Stevenson, Michael Stevenson, Vernon Altizer and John Birkenheuer.
