Jack McCullough of Denver, CO passed on August 30, 2018, at St. Paul Health Center after an honorable battle with Corticobasal Degeneration (CBD/PSP). A memorial service will be held at Fort Logan National Cemetery on September 4, 2018, at 3:15 pm. A reception to celebrate Jack’s life and legacy will follow. Jackie LeRoy McCullough was born on April 23, 1947, in Imperial, NE to John Charles and Violet Ann Most McCullough. He attended North Platte High School, graduating in 1965. Jack enlisted in the Air Force and served from 1965 – 1968, making liquid oxygen for pilots during his service in the Vietnam War (1967 – 1968). Jack married Edye Walters in San Bernadino, CA on November 2, 1968. They returned to Grand Island, NE where Jack worked with his father at Delicious Foods. He attended Kearney State College, graduating in 1974 with a Bachelor of Science degree. In between work and school, he made time to welcome three of his children – Margo (1970), Marcus (1971), and John (1974). He moved his family to Colorado in 1975 where his youngest child, Joe, was born in 1977. In Colorado, Jack worked as a journeyman on HVAC systems until he retired in 2009. He was a lifetime member of Pipefitters Local Union #208. Jack was an incredibly hard worker privately and professionally. He rarely missed work and demonstrated excellent work ethics. He made it a priority to attend the many activities of his children. He volunteered countless hours to the operations of a traveling marching band and other important school events. Jack was a dedicated father who loved and supported his children without question. Jack was very proud of his grandchildren and enjoyed their conversations, their smiles, and their hugs. He loved debates of all levels, but some of the best ones can be with little ones! Jack embraced adventure, as well. He loved Colorado and the mountains. He loved the freedom of riding his Harley and sharing good times with friends, including going to Sturgis for several years. One of his favorite things to do in the fall was make road trips through the high country to observe the changing scenery. He skydived out of a plane and bungee jumped from a hot air balloon. Jack enjoyed vacations in the Caribbean islands. Especially memorable to him was time spent on an Alaskan cruise with his dad, Linda, and Barb & Karl. Family reunions were important to Jack and he treasured spending time with his parents, siblings, nieces, nephews, and extended family. Jack put others before himself, modeling hard work, loyalty, humility, and service for those around him.
