PELION—Funeral services for Melvin D. Browder, Sr., 66, of Pelion, will be held at 8:00 p.m. Saturday, June 8, 2013 at Thompson Lexington Chapel. The family will greet friends from 6-8 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Mr. Browder passed away on Tuesday, June 4, 2013. Born in Lykeston, South Carolina, he was the son of the late Harry Otis Browder and Violet Patricia Townsend Browder. He was a member of Laurel Baptist Church in South Congaree. Surviving in addition to his loving wife of 3 years, Barbara A. "Bobbie" Browder of Pelion; daughters, Courtney Longway of Columbia and Elizabeth Alexandria McIntire of Germany; sons, Melvin D. Browder, Jr. (Katie) of Fairview, SC, Mark Browder (Christy) of Saluda , Gregory Longway of Columbia and Daniel Lance Bairefoot of Aiken; 13 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren, sisters, Carolyn Browder (Ernie Bell) of Gaston and Nancy Waters of Gilbert; brothers, Bryan Browder (Nancy) of Chapin and Dave "Penny" Pennington Browder (Missy) of Kershaw; also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by a brother, Scott Browder. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 128 Stonemark Lane, Columbia, SC 29210.
