Edward (Eddie) Gordon Maxey, Jr., 75, passed away March 22, 2019, surrounded by his loving family, at his home in Denver, Colorado after a long battle with Sarcoma Cancer. He was born in Anniston, Alabama on April 24, 1943. Ed is preceded in death by his parents, Edward G. Maxey, Sr. and Fay 0. (McCoy) Maxey. He is survived by his wife, Nancy; sons Sean (Cindy) Maxey and Chad (Lindsey) Maxey; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and brother William (Billy) Maxey. He graduated from Wakefield High School in Arlington, Virginia. Ed received his BS in Civil Engineering from West Virginia Institute of Technology and an MBA from the University of Utah. Major Maxey of the USAF proudly served his country for 21 years. He was a Vietnam War Veteran. Throughout his Air Force career, he received many awards and medals. Upon retirement, Ed and his family moved to Colorado where he worked for HWS, City and County of Denver Public Works, Denver Health and Hospitals, and Vetwerx. Ed had a commitment to truth. In every aspect of his life, he looked at the challenges and resources in front of him and determined the best course of action to achieve excellent results. Ed and his wife, Nancy, shared an incredible partnership for 51 happy, loving years. He always said that he married his best friend, and proudest of their two sons and their families who embody love, excellence and great values in their faithful lives. He was an amazing man that touched the lives of many. He loved his family and many friends and cherished sharing activities with them: golfing, fly fishing, hunting, football, trains, field trialing. Our family will be forever grateful for all the love, prayers and support during Ed’s illness. We miss him dearly, and he will forever be in our hearts. “POCKETS”
