WEST COLUMBIA: Graveside service for James Turner Pulliam, 79, will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 2, 2013, in Ft. Jackson National Cemetery, 4170 Percival Rd., Columbia, SC 29229. Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington is assisting the family. Mr. Pulliam passed away Tuesday, April 23, 2013. Born in Martinsville, VA, he was a son of the late Samuel Robert Pulliam and Myrtle Turner Pulliam. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict. Mr. Pulliam was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was the owner of Cavalier Textiles in West Columbia. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Starling Avenue Baptist Church, 932 Starling Avenue, Martinsville, VA 24112. Survivors include his loving wife of 45 years, Closs Ann Pulliam of West Columbia; daughter, Penny P. Reese (Michael) of Lexington and step-daughter, Cynthia W. Godwin (Rick) of San Antonia, TX; sisters, Verona Hall and Joan Cecil both of Martinsville, VA; brother, R.L. Pulliam of Fork Union, VA; grandchildren, Megan Lynn Reese, Michael Steven Reese, Jr., and Mary-Ellen P. Reese; step-grandchildren, Christine Godwin-Bruggeman and Alicia Kendrick Godwin.
