PELION: Memorial service for Helen "Marie" Blume-Stokes, 70, will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, April 13, 2013, in the Chapel of Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington, officiated by Mrs. Blume-Stokes nephew, Reverend Dustin Brackett. The family will receive friends from 2 until 3 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 520 Gervais St., Ste. 300, Columbia, SC 29201. Mrs. Blume-Stokes passed away Wednesday, April 10, 2013. Born in Columbia, SC she was a daughter of the late James Grey Porter, Sr., and Lizelle H. Porter, and Vera F. Hill and Pope Hill. Marie was a graduate of Eau Claire High School and was retired from the U.S. Postal Service. Marie was a creative, talented, gentle and loving wife, mother, sister and grandmother. She adored Lauren and Cameron with all her heart and took great joy in being "Nannie". Marie is survived by her husband, Tommy Stokes of Pelion; son, Stephen B. Blume (Barbara) of Barnwell; daughter, Allison Blume Kenner (Bruce); granddaughter, Lauren Elizabeth Kenner, grandson, Cameron Robertson Kenner, all of Lexington; sister, Faye Porter Grahl (Jimmy) of West Columbia; brothers, Wayne G. Yongue (Ginger) of Pelion and Jim Yongue (Rachel) of Hickory, NC. She was predeceased by her parents, brother and sister-in-law, Tommy and Kathy Porter, brother, James G. "Bubba" Porter, Jr. and sister, Bobbie Joy Yongue-Avery. The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude and appreciation to Marie's beloved "Dr. A", Donald Alexander of Columbia Heart Clinic, and to the amazing, caring staff of Palmetto Heart Hospital.
