Robert Nielsen
April 28th, 1931 - April 30th, 2015
Bob was born in South Dakota, but moved to Colorado as a boy. He attended and graduated from Englewood High School in 1950 before enlisting in the US Navy. He served 4 years in the Navy as a radar operator during the Korean War. He then attended New Tribes Bible Institute in Florida where he met and married his sweetheart Norma Jean. They were married over 59 years. He also attended Colorado University where he studied engineering. He was a surveyor for the National Park Service. He was loved by all who knew him. He was very much loved by his family-his wife, children, grandchildren, and the 50 plus foster children that he helped to take care of. More than anything, he loved his Saviour Jesus Christ. He is preceded in death by his father David Nielsen, mother Ethel (VanSteenwyk), siblings Lea Gerze and Merle VanSteenwyk; children Kevin Nielsen and Julie Nielsen; grandchildren Trevor Nielsen, Robert Flores and Brian Garcia. Survivors include his wife Norma Jean Nielsen, sister Grace McCain; children Kim Nielsen, Kathy Nielsen, Rick Nielsen, Tamara Garcia, Michael Nielsen and Megan Nielsen; 12 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
