Sae Young Kim, 100, of Columbia, South Carolina passed away on Sunday, September 10, 2017 at The John Keever Solace Center in Asheville, North Carolina. She was born on May 2, 1917 in South Korea to the late Mr. and Mrs. Kim. Mrs. Kim was a founding member of the Korean Methodist Church of Columbia. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed sharing the fruits of her bounty with her family, friends, and neighbors. Mrs. Kim's greatest love was her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Sae is survived by her two sons, Ung Han Kim and his wife, Ip P. Kim of Elgin, SC and Thomas Kim and his wife, Connie Kim of Columbia, SC; four daughters, Oak Han Kim of Columbia, SC, and Mary Han Reese and her husband, Lloyd of Columbia, SC, Kyung Han Lee and her husband, Jong of Atlanta, GA and Pok Han Kim and her husband, Young of Columbia, SC; one sister, Hyung Jin Kim of South Korea; two daughter-in-laws, Yae Hyon Kim of Columbia, SC and Hyun Sook Kim of Columbia, SC; 19 grandchildren, 29 great- grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Chi Chin Kim; an infant child, Sung Han Kim; two sons, Duk Han Kim and Robert Han Kim; and a brother. The family will receive friends at Thompson Funeral Home at Greenlawn Memorial Park on Thursday, September 14, 2017 from 6 - 8 pm. Funeral services will be at Thompson Funeral Home on Friday, September 15, 2017 at 11 am with Rev. Sung Huoon Kim officiating. Interment will be at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
