Doris Olson
Doris Ellen Olson of Aurora, Colorado passed away December 16, 2014 at the age of 89. Doris was the seventh of nine children born to George and Sarah Shield. She was born on a farm near Oxford, Nebraska on December 11, 1925 and graduated from high school in Merino, Colorado in 1941. On September 7, 1943 Doris married Herman K. Olson. Together they raised six children: 3 girls and 3 boys. Doris retired from Cherry Creek School District, where she managed an elementary school cafeteria. Doris was a faithful, active member of the Church of God of Prophecy since 1944. Her strong faith and walk with God is the legacy she has left for her children and future generations. God and family were her priorities. She firmly believed that God would never require anything of you that would hurt your family. Doris was admired and dearly loved by her entire family. She is survived by her children: Marilyn (Leonard) Hansen, Sturgis, SD; Joyce (Jimmy) Cook, Cottondale, AL; Kenneth (Rosie) Olson, Arvada, CO; Richard Olson, Aurora, CO; Julie VonFeldt, Aurora, CO; James (Gail) Olson, Cumming,GA; 19 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, and 2 great, great-grandchildren; along with numerous nieces and nephews. Doris was proceeded in death by: her husband, Herman Olson; parents; sisters Luella Cooper and Myrtle Moore; brothers: Paul, Donald and Harold Shield; and granddaughter Kimberly Capps. Funeral services for Doris E. Olson will be Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at 10:00 am. Life Source Adventist Fellowship 6200 W. Hampden Ave Denver, CO 80227 Internment at Ft Logan National Cemetery will follow service at 12:00 pm A light lunch immediately following the Internment will be served at Life Source Adventist Fellowship Public viewing will be immediately before the service.
