July 15th, 1923 - August 24th, 2012
COLUMBIA—James Lee McLaurin, 89, of Columbia passed away on Friday, August 24, 2012. Born in Columbia, he was the son of the late Lillie and C. C. McLaurin, Sr. James was a member of North Trenholm Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, August 27, 2012 at the Chapel of Thompson Funeral Home of West Columbia, State Street. Burial will follow in Crescent Hill Memorial Gardens. Officiating will be Rev. Joe Copeland. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home. Surviving are his sisters, Betty Reibman, Margie Padgett, Jo Ann Cronin all of West Columbia; brothers, Bobby (Faye) and Johnny (Jeanie) McLaurin all of Apalachicola, FL and Larry McLaurin of Columbia; cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by siblings, Jack, Pete, Billy, George and Joyce. The family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses and all who assisted at Palmetto Baptist Hospice and all the staff at Palmetto Baptist Hospital who gave James devoted care.
