PELION: Funeral service for Charles "Chuck" Wesley Kennedy, Jr., 38, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 4, 2012, at Grace Chapel Church, officiated by Reverend Rusty Rabon. Interment will be 1 p.m. at Stephen Greene Memorial Gardens, Winnsboro, SC. The family will receive friends from 10 until 11 a.m. prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the A.L.S. Association, Lou Gehrig's Disease, SC Chapter, 1023 Wappoo Rd., Suite A19, Charleston, SC 29407. Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington is assisting the family. Mr. Kennedy passed away Tuesday, July 31, 2012. Born in Columbia, SC, he was a son of June M. Kennedy Elkin and the late Charles Wesley Kennedy. He was a member of Grace Chapel Church; and was employed in the maintenance shop with Carolina Eastman. Mr. Kennedy was a 1991 graduate of Airport High School. He was a loving father, brother and son who fought a courageous battle against Lou Gehrig's disease. He was an avid Clemson fan. He will be fondly remembered and dearly missed. Surviving are his mother, June M. Elkin of West Columbia; daughters, Allie Kennedy and Mallory Kennedy of Pelion; sister, Marie Kennedy of Pelion; aunts, Ann Wetherington of Augusta, GA; and Judie Lancaster (Ray) of Columbia; cousin, Wilson Lancaster (Mel) of Columbia and nephew, Dalton Wooten of Pelion. The family would like to thank the nurses who assisted in Chuck's care, Diana, Denean, Cindy, Terreus, Emily and LaShonda.
