Robert Lowe Otava, Sr. passed away May 11, 2010. He was born May 1, 1932 in Longmont, Co. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Carol (Runyon), children Lori Corradi (Ray), Cheri Ensign (Jim), Robert II (Kris), and Becki DeCamp (Jeff). Grandchildren Mark (Mindy) and Nicole Corradi, Levi Ensign, Kaylee and Melissa Otava and Rebecca DeCamp. He is preceded in death by his parents Lowe and Mildred (Copeland) Otava and sister Dolly. Bob was a member of Local 68 IBEW for 50 plus years as a Journeyman Electrician. He loved stream fishing and camping with family and friends. He was an avid Denver Broncos fan with season tickets for over 30 years in the famous South Stands section. Baseball was his game and when the Rockies came to Denver, he became an instant fan. Together with friends, he attended several Rockies Spring Training games in Tuscon, AZ and this past March in Goodyear, AZ . Bob grew up in the coal mining camps near Erie, CO and graduated from Erie High School in 1950. He then attended Colorado State College, now UNC, in Greeley for two years. He enlisted in the US Army and served from 1954-1956 on Eniwetok Atoll in the Marshall Islands. He met and married Carol Runyon in 1956 and moved from Boulder to Denver in 1960. He retired from the electrical trade in 1994. He and Carol were able to travel to Ireland, tour the Christmas Markets of Germany as well as take several cruises, including a trip thru the Panama Canal. Bob was a good neighbor and always willing to give a helping hand when needed. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
