Thomas Daniel Wyatt

Thomas Daniel Wyatt, Jr. ATTORNEY, PHARMACIST West Columbia—Thomas Daniel Wyatt Jr., 82, of West Columbia, SC died August 17, 2017 after a long battle with the complications of Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF). Born on October 16, 1934, in Spartanburg, SC, he was a son of the late Thomas D. Wyatt and Armantine Sanders Wyatt. He was educated in the Spartanburg City Schools, and graduated with degrees from Wofford College (1954), the USC College of Pharmacy (1960), and the USC School of Law (1979). After graduation from Wofford, he served two years as a Military Intelligence officer with the US Army. He spent the majority of his professional career with the SC State Board of Health (later, SCDHEC) as a Drug Inspector, becoming Chief of the Bureau of Drug Control in 1973. From 1962 through 1972, he held a joint appointment with the South Carolina Board of Pharmacy as one of its inspectors. He retired from SCDHEC in 1992, after 30 years of service. During his career, he was elected to the Executive Committee of the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy, and later, as President of the National Association of State Control Substances Authorities (NASCSA). After his retirement from SCDHEC, he became the Executive Director of NASCSA for seven years. In 1999, he began employment as a consultant to a number of law firms and with other professional consultant businesses. Mr. Wyatt was a member of Providence Presbyterian Church where he served as an elder, Clerk of Session, Sunday School teacher, and choir member. He was also active in Men of the Church and he participated in yearly trips to NC on Habitat projects. Mr. Wyatt is survived by his wife of 37 years, Alice Fehrer Robinson Wyatt; sons Robert W. Wyatt (Phyllis) of Spartanburg and Christopher E. Wyatt of Charleston; a stepson, Eric D. Robinson (Roseanna), of Irmo; 7 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and his brother Erskine (Sharon) of Munford, TN. He was predeceased by his parents and his oldest son, Thomas III. A celebration of Tom's life will be conducted by the Rev. Drs. Michael and Fran Bragan at Providence Presbyterian Church, 1112 Hummingbird Dr., West Columbia, SC at 1 P.M. on Saturday, August 26, 2017. In lieu of flowers, a contribution to the Fellowship Hall building fund at Providence Presbyterian. Inurnment will take place after the service at the church. Thompson Funeral Home of West Columbia is assisting the family.
