Fred Campbell
July 6th, 1930 - June 18th, 2012
Fred Heyward Campbell, Sr., 81, passed away on Monday, June 18, 2012. Born on July 6, 1930, he is survived by his wife of 54 years, Susan Smith Campbell; his daughter, Gwen C. Evans (O.C.) of Varnville, SC; a son, Freddie Campbell (Cammie) of Columbia, SC; grandchildren, Heyward and Rebecca Evans, Ivey, Grace, Tripp, Cooper and Faith Campbell. He is also survived by brothers? Harvey and Howard Campbell, and sisters? Annie Ruth C. Tinsley and Margaret C. Tuttle. Mr. Campbell was pre-deceased by his parents, John and Lorna G. Campbell; brothers, Tommy, Curtis, and Charlie ?Bubba? Campbell; and sisters, Frances C. Davis and Pauline C. George. Mr. Campbell was first employed as a ball boy for the Columbia City Reds. He was later employed by Southern Pump & Tank and Texaco before retiring to become self-employed as a farmer and later opened up Campbell?s Country Corner where he socialized with his friends. He was an active member of Pine Bluff Baptist Church where he proudly served as a Deacon of the church and was recently honored for 50 years of service. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 20, 2012 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Pine Bluff Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 21, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Pine Bluff Baptist Church with interment to follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be his surviving nephews. Memorials can be made to Pine Bluff Baptist Church to begin a youth ministry in Fred?s memory. On-line condolences may be sent to www.greenlawn-columbia.com. The family has entrusted Greenlawn Funeral Home with the arrangements. Fred will be sorely missed by family and friends, but his spirit will live on through the lives he has impacted. He has fought the good fight and now rests in the arms of his Savior, Jesus Christ. We are thankful that he is at peace. His greatest love was his children, seven grandchildren, and his love for the cows, hogs, and the farm.
