WEST COLUMBIA: Funeral services for Jerome Charles Sightler, Jr., 83, will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, June 1, 2012, at West Side Baptist Church, officiated by Reverend Kenneth Lawson and Reverend Bret Deyoung. Interment will follow at Southland Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday evening at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington. Memorials may be made to Gideon's International, P.O. Box 140800, Nashville, TN 37214. Mr. Sightler went to be with the Lord at his home, Monday, May 28, 2012. Born in Gaston, SC, he was a son of the late Jerome C. Sightler, Sr., and Eula Lee Mack Sightler. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War. Mr. Sightler was a member of West Side Baptist Church and of Gideon's International. He retired from Midlands Tech in 1994. Mr. Sightler was a great Dad and loving husband. Survivors include: his wife of 58 years, Alphayon W. Sightler of West Columbia; daughters, Bonnie Younginer (Charles) of Lexington and Laurie Rish (Defoix) of West Columbia; sons, J. Charles "Chuck" Sightler, III (Carolyn) of West Columbia and Mark Sightler (Lorry) of Graniteville; sister, Yvonne Sightler of West Columbia; brother, Neil Sightler (Bettie Jo) of West Columbia; six grandchildren, Colin Young, Wendy Ferguson, Chad Sightler, Dustin Sightler, Joshua Sightler, and Karlee Sightler; four great grandchildren, Kennedy Young, Gage Young, Saylor Ferguson and Darby Ferguson. The family would like to extend special thanks to Heartstrings Hospice and Ms. Kellie Blackwell.
