Mary Culbreath Cooper Cook LEXINGTON: Services for Mary Thomas Culbreath Cooper Cook, 83, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, December 31, 2011, in the Chapel of Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington, officiated by Rev. Dr. Steve Cloud. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Harmony Hospice, 100 Ashland Park Lane, Columbia, SC 29210; or to the Presbyterian Home, 700 Davega Drive, Lexington, SC 29073. Mrs. Cook passed away Thursday, December 29, 2011, after an extended illness. Born in Fairfield County, SC, she was a daughter of the late William Theodore Culbreath and Mary Louise Long Culbreath. She graduated from Union High School and attended Winthrop College. Mrs. Cook was the owner of Professional Personnel. She was a member of Northside Baptist Church and was very active in her church. Mrs. Cook was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Survivors include her loving husband, Bruce Cook of West Columbia; daughters, Susan Gobbel (Billy) of Lexington, Peggy Cook of West Columbia; sons, Averil Cooper (Betty) of West Columbia and Phil Cook (Dinah) of Columbia; sister, Frances Huggins of Columbia; seven grandchildren, Shannon Rudnicki (Jon), Ashley Culley (David), Gene Gobbel (Liz), Chip Cooper, Jennifer, Allison and James Cook; five great grandchildren, Danny Rudnicki, Emily and Amber Culley and Molly and Graham Gobbel. Mrs. Cook was preceded in death by her husband, A.D. Cooper, Jr.; brother Bill Culbreath and sisters, Coleman Jennings and Martha Emory. The family would like to extend special thanks to Harmony Hospice and the Care Givers of the Presbyterian Home for their love and care.
