Born 6/24/1947, John was the youngest child born to Remigio and Soraida Perea. He had 8 siblings: Adeline, Max, Armando, Elsie, Joe, Tillie, Gloria and Raymond. John was born in Kimbal Nebraska and moved to Denver at a very young age. He grew up in the Westside & Northside. He attended school at Skinner, Lake Jr, West High School and North High School. John decided to join the Army in August 1966, where he went on to serve two terms. He dutifully served as a soldier in the Vietnam War from August 1966 to April 1969. After being wounded, his faithful service was recognized with a Purple Heart – an honor he was proud of. John entered a second term in January 1979, as part of the 82nd Airborne deployed to Kuwait and Desert Storm. John was the recipient of many medals and accommodations – a tribute to his dedication as a soldier and love of his Country. John is survived by his wife Hazel and two sisters Elsie and Gloria. His four daughters will miss their Dad greatly – Jennifer, from a previous marriage, Selena, Denise and Jessica. John was blessed with many grandchildren: Elise, Gabriella, Mila, Emiliano, Ava, Aiden, Brennen and Conner. For those who know him, John will be remembered for his quick wit and great laugh. John was also a beloved host of numerous garage parties – ha ha !
