Paul graduated from Brighton High school where he played football for the Bulldogs. he attended the Colorado School of Mines for one semester before joining the Air Force during the Korean conflict. paul was in the Air Force for four years. While in the air force, Paul was introduced to his future wife, Louise Stephens, by his friend and future brother-in-law, Jack. paul and Louise were married June 8, 1957 on the University of Louisiana State campus, where Paul later received his bachelor and masters degree in physics. Their first child Greg was born in Baton Rouge in 1958. Paul’s first career job was at Cornell Aeronautical Laboratory in Buffalo, New York. his son Doug was born in Buffalo in 1961. Fleeing the cold winters, the Brown family moved to Boulder in 1964. Paul took a job at the National Center for Atmospheric Research. His daughter Michelle was born in Boulder in 1966. In the early 1970’s Paul left NCAR to pursue various entrepreneurial endeavors and Louise began working for the CU athletics department. In 1980 a brain aneurism left Louise incapacitated and the family with a great loss. Years later, Paul moved to Amarillo Texas to enjoy the warmer weather and slower pace of life. There he developed a keen interest in the brain-body connection and studied Neuro Linguistic Programming. paul began practicing the art of weaving prior to leaving boulder and earned awards while living in Amarillo. After Paul’s health declined in 2006, he returned to Boulder to be near his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed a full life while living in Golden West Manor, including time spent with friends and family; continued practice in helping others “learn how to learn”; and the spiritual side of life. Paul died at the age of 77 after a brief battle with leukemia. Although his passing came quickly, the weekend prior to entering the hospital he enjoyed a family picnic with all his children and grandchildren: Greg, Kathy, Quint and Will Brown; Doug, Geri, Kyle and Tessa Brown; and Michelle, Greg, Wyatt and Noah Kocol. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 21 at 11:00 at Golden West Manor at 1055 Adams Circle, Boulder.
