Lee Peters
February 21st, 1930 - February 23rd, 2017
Lee Roy Peters was born February 21, 1930, in Wynnewood, Oklahoma to his parents, Fred L. Peters and Dorothy P. Houston. He was the oldest of three children and is survived by his sibling, Lon Peters Jr. (Lillie Mae Peters). Lee married Helen Ganther on January 21, 1951 and welcomed five daughters: Janet Brown, Linda Justice, Dorothy Burris, Iris Tarrant, and Lorna Hudson. He served in the U.S. Air Force for 23 years, retiring in 1971. During those years his travels included tours in Japan and Germany. Lee had ten grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. His grandchildren remember him as a wise and kind grandpa who always encouraged them to pursue their goals. Lee had a passion for computers and other electronic gadgets, and enjoyed refurbishing old computers. Fishing was a lifetime hobby he loved too. He also was a very good cook and loved to cook for other people. He moved to the western slope of Colorado over 10 years ago, where he enjoyed the small town and outdoor life. He was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Grand Junction, Colorado. Lee’s memory will be cherished by the family and friends he leaves behind.
