A funeral service celebrating the life of Julian Bowen, 82, will be held on Monday, December 13, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Asbury Memorial United Methodist Church with Rev. Steve McCormack and Rev. George Howle officiating. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 12, 2010 from 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. at Greenlawn Funeral Home. Julian Bowen was born in Scotland County, North Carolina on September 27, 1928 to Gus and Ila Bell Bowen and grew up in McColl, S.C. Mr. Bowen worked at Savannah River Site, Pratt and Whitney Aircraft Company, and retired from Westinghouse Nuclear Fuel Division in 1991. He was a member of Asbury Memorial United Methodist Church and the Bauknight Sunday School Class. He was predeceased by his parents, brothers David Bowen and Vernon Bowen. He is survived by his loving wife, Doris Brown Bowen; daughters, Angie Rosier (Steve) and Pam Howle (George); a grandson, Reginald Julian ?RJ? Howle; a brother, Wilburn Bowen (Bonnie) and sister, Mildred Perkins. He was a loving and gentle husband and father who lived a simple life and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Alzheimer?s Association, South Carolina Chapter, 4124 Clemson Blvd, Suite L, Anderson, SC 29621, or Asbury Memorial UMC, 1005 Asbury Drive, Columbia, SC 29209-2186 in Julian?s memory. The family has entrusted Greenlawn Funeral Home with the arrangements.
