CAYCE - Jacqueline Turner Corbett, 83, passed away on Friday, August 27, 2010. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Sunday, August 29th, at Thompson Funeral Home of West Columbia and the funeral will take place on Monday, August 30th at 11 a.m. at Transfiguration Lutheran Church, conducted by The Reverend Alexander H. Twedt. Entombment will follow in Celestial Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Pallbearers will be Bobby Sellers, Wade Sellers, Al Gleaton, Richard Stewart, Tommy Dorris and Wayne Sturkie.Jackie was born in Smithville, TN on April 10, 1927. She was the daughter of the late Bonnie and Colonel C. Cummings. In 1947 she married Robert E. Corbett, Jr. in Columbia, SC and later gave birth to two sons, Bobby and Bruce.Surviving are her husband Bob; sons Bobby and Bruce; grandchildren Chelsey, Kate and Garrett; great-grandchildren MaKenzey and Cuyler as well as her brothers Bill and Max Cummings.Jackie spent many years volunteering for Dixie Youth Baseball on """M""" Avenue in Cayce when her boys were young. She has been a Cayce resident for over 40 years. During this time she was also employed by Columbia Brace and Boot Shop. Jackie was a proud and lifelong member of Transfiguration Lutheran Church in Cayce. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.Memorials may be made to Transfiguration Lutheran Church, 1301 12th Street, Cayce, SC 29033.
