May 22nd, 1942 - June 16th, 2011
Ernest (Ernie) L. Radke, age 69, truck driver for Dahlsten Truck Lines, died at Pikes Peak Hospice in Colorado Springs, CO on Thursday, June 16, 2011, from cancer. Ernie was born May 22, 1942, in Big Springs, NE, to the late Ray and Evelyn Radke. He graduated from Big Springs High School in 1962. He served in the United States Navy then joined the Navy Seabee Reserves and served for 16 years. On April 15, 1967, he was united in marriage to Dorothy L. Hamby in Sydney, NE. He worked for Nebraska Public Power District for 21 years before becoming a truck driver for Dahlsten Truck Lines for the last 22 years. Ernie and Dottie lived in Norfork, NE and Grand Island, NE, before moving to Gibbon, NE where they resided for 16 years and where he served as a Volunteer Fireman and EMT. Ernie then briefly lived in Sydney, NE. The past 14 years they have enjoyed living in Colorado Springs, CO. Ernie is survived by his wife, Dorothy; his daughter and her husband, Celina and Michael Arsenault; his son and his wife, Michael and Janene Radke; three grandchildren, Patrick, Jaclyn and Natalie; five brothers, Bob, Vern, Loren, Kenny and Denny; and three sisters, Karen, Janet and Barb. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant brother, Rodney, and niece, Raedee. Celebration of Life and Memorial Service for Ernest L. Radke was held on Sunday, June 19 at 2:00 p.m. at High Plains Church Unitarian Universalist in Colorado Springs, CO where the Reverend Roger Butts officiated.
