Graveside services for Vivian F. Carson, 96, of Columbia will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, January 16, 2017 at Tranquil United Methodist Church Cemetery, 1702 McCormick Highway, Greenwood, SC. The family will greet friends immediately following the service at graveside. Thompson Funeral Home of West Columbia is assisting the family. Vivian Finley passed away January 12, 2017 at Pruitt Health of Blythewood. Born January 2, 1921 in Greenwood, she was a daughter of the late Henry and Deana Johnson Finley. Vivian was a long time member of Eau Claire Baptist Church, and in later years, attended Kennerly Road Baptist Church. She was a people person, and never met a stranger. Vivian loved reading her bible, and had scripture ready for any occasion or situation. She lived her life witnessing for the Lord, and is now at home and at peace in Heaven. She is survived by her sons, Michael F. Carson of Elgin, and Kevin D. Carson of Dandridge, TN; great-grandchildren, Michael "Jamey", Nathan and Abbe Vaughn. Vivian was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Heather Carson Vaughn. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Kennerly Road Baptist Church, 1526 Kennerly Road, Irmo, SC 29063.
